A Homeschool Mama Building a Village
Encouragement and Empowerment for the Homeschool Journey
Becoming a homeschool mom is amazing, rewarding, challenging, and terrifying all at the same time. We are so blessed to be able to stay home and educate our children how we see fit, forming this education opportunity to fit our lives, learning styles, and schedules. But that doesn’t mean it’s easy.
I always knew I wanted to homeschool my daughter. I didn’t know the how-to or the details, but it was always in the back of my mind. We’ve always homeschooled, really, even before she was “school age”. So it was a natural progression to continue our education in this way. My husband was intrigued with the idea, but was on the fence regarding the socialization side of homeschooling. In the years that we’ve been homeschooling since (our daughter is 7 and has been homeschooling since 4), he has seen not only that her social life is blossoming, but that she is learning and growing in ways she wouldn’t have in public school.
To say I was unsure when we first began would be an understatement. I was afraid I’d mess it up. Mess her up. I didn’t know the legalities, or how to go about getting started. I Googled more than any person should probably Google anything, and I puzzle-pieced my homeschool world together a bit at a time. That’s why it was important to me to share what I’ve learned with other (potential and veteran) homeschool Mamas. Am I an “expert”? No. But I am a Mama who has been doing this a while. I’ve felt all the feelings, done all the things, searched all the searches, and have come out on the other side. Now I want to create a space where I can share what I’ve learned through my journey with you. It can feel lonely going through the homeschooling process. So my goal is to create a village, Mamas. You in?
